This director position will play a critical role in creating a yearly strategy that maximized the value delivered to partners. This will happen through an optimized scheduling logic that meets and exceeds scheduling preferences and ensuring we are delivering all we can for our partners though the schedule. This director plays a key role in helping the company realize the Operating Income value of SSE initiatives and cross-functional engagement to remove roadblocks. This director will work in lock step with the director of Staffing & Scheduling Retail Support and the director of Staffing to ensure we are thinking holistically about how to solve problems as one team to ensure Retail leaders can execute & implement the schedule changes we deploy. This NEW director position is an exciting addition to our team and critical to bringing the Reinvention Plan to life and delivering requirements for our Base Business.- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports the implementation of Company programs, procedures, methods, and practices to promote Starbucks key messages and achieve a competitive advantage.
- Develops annual operating plan and budget, and quarterly forecast updates.
- Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs align with company business goals and objectives.
- Prepares, communicates, and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
- Provides strategic plan input for all productivity initiatives that will either increase or decrease labor or increase throughput of customers that will result in top line growth.
- Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
- Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
- Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
- Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members to achieve partner, business, and customer results.
As a director, Operations Scheduling you will…
- Lead the creation of and refinement of a scheduling strategy to implement in Retail.
- Partner with director peers linked to Staffing & Scheduling Retail Support and Staffing to own & guide how the Scheduling arm of the initiative come to life and can be implemented. Ensure our Scheduling updates/changes can come to life in stores for OI value return.
- Create and align on our OI value capture in partnership with peer director of Staffing.
- Help identify opportunities to optimize our processes to achieve business results, improve partner experience, and retail interaction with Scheduling at Starbucks.
- Cross-functional contact for Retail and enterprise leaders for how schedules come to life in stores, current algorithm insights, and provides guidance on future thinking of next generation labor model.
- Partner with teams across, DAIBO, Finance, PRO, Retail, PEIC, and the Future of Partner Centric Scheduling team.
Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
- Calculates fiscal impact of new initiatives for inclusion in cost-benefit analysis.
- Creates, tests, and implements productivity initiatives for both new stores and for retrofitting existing stores.
- Ensures labor standards and operating standards are consistent and optimized.
- Serves as Equipment Program Core Team member.
- Supports business unit(s)/department(s) in measuring labor and speed of service impacts of new initiatives and process changes.
We’d love to hear from people with:
- 5 + years initiative implementation in multi-unit retailer.
- 5 + years of project management experience.
- Progressive experience managing varied productivity initiatives and retail operations.
- Passion and curiosity for Scheduling, algorithm analysis, recommendations, and Staffing – the everchanging part of our business.
- Bias for action & accountability.
- Structured and disciplined thinking, the ability to keep a team focused on critical programs & tasks.

The pay range for this position may be narrower than that displayed, depending on where the work is performed.
